Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about cost, comfort and what to expect.

How much do braces cost?

Cost depends on your case complexity and chosen appliance. We believe in affordable braces for South African families, and we'll give you a clear, itemised quote at your consultation — with payment plan options available.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Most patients feel mild pressure for a day or two after switching to a new set of aligners — this is a sign they're working. It's typically far more comfortable than traditional braces, with no wires or brackets to irritate your cheeks.

What age should my child get braces?

Most children start orthodontic treatment between ages 10–14, once enough adult teeth have come through. We recommend an early consultation from age 7 so we can monitor growth and catch issues before they become bigger problems.

How long will I need to wear a retainer?

We recommend full-time wear for the first few months after treatment, then night-time wear indefinitely. Teeth can shift for life, so keeping your retainer is the best way to protect your investment.

Do you treat patients from Bushbuckridge & Pretoria?

Yes — alongside our primary Mbombela practice, we also serve patients from Bushbuckridge and Pretoria. See our locations page for details.
